EDI transactions are generated from your practice management system (PMS) or hospital information system (HIS), and then are routed to a clearinghouse for submission to UnitedHealthcare. The information we return to you for these transactions is automatically loaded back into your computer system. These are not transactions done through Link using your Optum ID.
EDI allows you to have the capability to submit single or batch transactions for multiple members and multiple payers, which eliminates the need for manual data entry, phone calls and numerous logins for payer websites.
